Programs The programs are designed to provide a foundation and a continuous learning experience. A dedicated staff is employed to ensure that students have fun while learning and gain an appreciation for music. The Institute provides leadership training for children through the involvement of youth workers (former students of the Institute) as teacher assistants and interns. The Summer Music Institute operates for four weeks in early summer, incorporating various areas of study for children ages 6-14. The program can accommodate 45 children. The Wednesday Night Music Institute is held September thru April, and offers mix-media instruction to up to 20 children. Depending on staff availability and student interest, classes are offered in art, creative writing, dance, creative movement, drama, English handbells, harp, keyboard, music appreciation, music skills, percussion, recorder, violin, multi-media and public speaking. Additional services provided: Students are taken to concerts and to see professional productions; Guest artists are invited to make presentations and interact with the students; Students participate in art festivals and worship at local churches, and provide entertainment at local nursing homes, and meetings of religious and civic organizations. Enrollment is on a first-come first-serve basis, and classes are assigned according to age, interest, availability and prerequisites. An affordable tuition is required, which can be waived with proof of bona fide hardship.
